Lena Marty Ehrensperger

Lena Marty Ehrensperger died at the age of 95, April 22, 2003, in Sunnyvale, California. The daughter of Gottlieb and Bertha Marty, Mrs. Ehrensperger was born in Madison in 1907. Her family moved to Monroe, where she attended Monroe High School. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and taught math at Oconomowoc High School for 8 years. She and Fred Ehrensperger were married for 61 years. He preceded her in death on the same date in 1998. Mrs. Ehrensperger was a member of First Congregational Church for more than 50 years, a tireless volunteer in church and civic activities. She served on the board of the state AAUW and as legislative chair of the state PTA. She was an avid gardener and a member of the West Side Garden Club. She and her husband enjoyed dancing and world-wide travel. Survivors include daughters Margaret Irwin of Palo Alto, California, and Mary McLimans of Wilmington, Delaware, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Private services have been held. Donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, 1609 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53726.
